The second floor dormer addition is starting to take shape. Padraig and his crew started raising the walls on Saturday. They should have the whole second floor completely framed by Wednesday. So despite the cold weather we've managed to make some major progress. Of course if it was warmer we would've been a little bit further along.

Just looking at these pictures makes me miss those bitter Chicago days when the sky is murky with low-lying clouds and the frigid moist winds whip off the lake. Then there’s the smell of sawdust, the rip of the circular saw and the pounding of hammers and The Loop blaring in the background. Coffee, cigarettes, frozen mud and chill of the cold air biting the upper part of your arse because the weight of the tool belt keeps tugging down you trousers. “That’s why you should wear your Cardhart coveralls”. Rabbit food, indeed.
